Dr. Merchant has been volunteering his time as the Sierra College team physician since 1993, besides working at Roseville Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. Dr. Merchant covers competitions, evaluates and treats Sierra College athletes and organizes the mass health screenings Sierra College provides for all of its athletes. He was also the training camp physician for the San Francisco 49ers from 1993-97. Dr. Merchant received a BA and MS from Stanford University and his M.D. from the University of California at San Francisco. He is a member of numerous professional organizations and committees including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Association for Sports Medicine.
