Sierra bested two Coast conference foes on Thursday at Harry Crabb Park. The Wolverines opened the morning with a 5-0 sweep over De Anza with dominating performances from our 1, 3, and 4 pairs. Our little but mighty duo at the top, Adebodun and Skinner, opened the day with a commanding win at the 1's. Adebodun, a Corban University commit, carried the offensive load and Skinner's scrappy defense made for a fun match to watch.
The second-round match versus Hartnell was more closely contested with the Wolverines coming away with a 3-2 win. The Wolverines were down 0-2 at the turn and had to fight back in their last 3 duals to earn the 3-2 win. Their first dual win came from the 5's pair of Binda and Fowler. Fowler's relentless defense kept the Wolverines in charge most of the dual.
The 2's pair of Rodriguez/Boccia came away with a dominating 2-0 win of 21-16, 21-10. Rodriguez, new to beach, is a fierce competitor and is improving every week and Boccia, recently committed to Oregon Tech to pursue a degree in Dental Hygenistry, keeps playing higher and smarter.
Deter and Stolz, the 4's pair, wrapped up the contest with solid performance, winning 21-14, 21-9. Deter's ball control and Stolz's high flying attacking make them a formidable pair in the ladder.
Sierra will face two more Coast Conference opponents in Fresno and West Valley at West Valley on February 23rd and wraps up pre-season play with Lassen and Feather River at Delta on February 29th.
