Ryan Evangelho played Junior college baseball at College of San Mateo where he was a catcher. He earned a scholarship to the University of San Francisco and played his junior year under Rich Hill and his senior year under Nino Giratano. Once he graduated with his BA in Communication, he quickly moved to Sacramento taking a High School coaching job at River City High School.

Evangelho came to the Sierra College family in 2003 as an assistant coach. Evangelho was quickly enlisted to run the wolverine offense and work with catchers. He was also in charge of recruiting student-athletes to a school that was not known for baseball at the time, but Placer County was quickly thriving into a hot bed for potential student-athletes.

The wolverines quickly proved how good they were winning over 300 games in a 10 yr span.

In 2008 the wolverines captured the prestigious State Title and set a school record with 39 wins. They defeated 4-time state champion Riverside Community College and Southwestern College of Chula Vista twice - including the winner take all state final game by the score of 6-2.

In 2013 Evangelho took over as the interim head coach at Sierra. The Wolverines had an amazing season by winning the Big 8 Conference Championship. That season was filled with many wins and very few losses (33-9). The Wolverines lost back-to-back games only once that year. Sierra had three players voted to the All American team. Pitcher Andrew Cooper, Catcher Blake Grant Parks and 2B Nick Blaser. Blaser accepted a scholarship to play in the Big West Conference at Cal State Northridge. Also transferring to big-time D1 programs from the 2013 team were 1B Jimmy Jack to Loyola Marymount and SS Jake Riffice to the University of Iowa. Cooper was drafted in the 12th round by the Washington Nationals and Parks signed with the Tampa Bay Rays

Evangelho was named coach of the year.

In 2014 Evangelho decided to take the job as head coach at Yuba college where he was for 6 season’s.

In only his second year he broke a 49-year playoff drought and took Yuba college baseball to the playoffs.

In 2021 Evangelho was hired back to become the Head coach at Sierra college. With a very young team that only started 1 sophomore position player the team went 25-17 and again went to the playoffs. They took their opponent to game 3 of the play-off series but ultimately fell short.

2022 Evangelho lead his team to another playoff birth with a very young wolverine club that finished the year 22-17 but would learn how to play wolverine baseball and carry that into 2023.

In 2023 the wolverines proved again to have a loaded roster of great players that propelled Evangelho’s team to finish #1 in Northern Ca. They sent 6 players off with D1 scholarships, 1 drafted by the Toronto blue Jays, and 11 on scholarships to the D2 level. The run to the final 4 was another epic Sierra Season. Coach Evangelho was named Nor Cal Coach of the year. They ended the year 35-15

Evangelho and his wife Jaclyn have 3 kids together. Gabriella (10), Trevor (15), and Marren (16). When there not on the Sierra Baseball field they are driving their kids to all kinds of different sporting events of their own.

Coach Evangelho also recognizes his parents Daryl and Darlene Evangelho for raising him and allowing him to be involved in baseball his entire life. His father, Daryl, was his little league and All Star coach growing up.
