Sierra College

Bruce Hastie joined the Sierra College Aquatics staff during the 2009 season applying his extensive knowledge of water polo to help develop the skill level of the Wolverine Men’s team. Under his co-leadership with Breitbart, the Wolverines have achieved two 3rd place back to back wins at NorCals in 2010 and 2011. Promoting a training regimen to work hard and “honor the game” Hastie has garnered respect for the Sierra College Water Polo program throughout the Conference. He has spent many years on the pool decks of Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, and Nevada counties as both a coach and referee for local high school water polo. Like Breitbart, Hastie believes in promoting local talent and building a team comprised of high school athletes from the surrounding areas. Two of these athletes received All American awards in 2011.

Hastie has been the program director and head coach of Sacramento Water Polo since 1982 when he founded the club to help grow the sport of water polo in the Sacramento area. In addition to Sierra College, Hastie has held the following Head Coaching positions: Jesuit Water Polo 1990-2007 (6 CIF Section Championships), Jesuit Swimming 1990-2002 (7 CIF Section Championships), and the USA Junior National Team from 1995-1998 (Gold Medalists 1996-1998). He has travelled extensively promoting water polo world -wide, including the organization of trips to Hungary for his SacPolo club members for the past 10 years where they practice and compete against European teams.
