Sierra 11, Delta 10

Delta took an early lead ending the 1st quarter with a score of 4-0. The Wolverines were finally able to log a goal on a power play at the beginning of the 2nd quarter and they added 2 more unanswered goals by the middle of the quarter.  Four ejections later (2 Sierra & 2 Delta) the quarter ended 4-3.

Delta came back at the start of the 3rd with a penalty shot and goal, increasing the lead 6-3. The teams traded a few goals back and forth, but Sierra showed they came to win.  Hoppe put one in the cage at 6:26 and before Delta could answer back, S Hastie made a steal and turned it into a goal at 6:09.  For the next 6 minutes of play, between goals and penalty shots, Sierra steadily closed the gap, ending the 3rd quarter in a tie 9-9.

5 of Sierra's 10 total ejections/penalties were called on them in the 4th quarter.  Despite this, they were able to take the lead when Hoppe made a steal & goal at 5:05.  Delta went scoreless in the 4th, until sinking one in with :32 seconds left in the game...making the score 10-11 in favor of Sierra.  The Wolverines protected the ball in their last possession of the game and then dumped it...Delta then grabbed it and took a mid-pool shot...which was blocked (yeah) solidly by goalie Watkins as the buzzer sounded - fitting ending to this exciting game.
