NorCal Finals, West Valley 18, Sierra 6

After watching the Sierra girls play - and win - against Delta for 1st place in NorCals, it was time for the men's game for top honors.  This was a high scoring game for West Valley as the Wolverines were outscored 3-1 in the 1st, 3-0 in the 2nd, 6-2 in the 3rd and 6-3 in the 4th.  Despite each team taking 28 shots, and 9 ejections, a 5 meter penalty and 8 offensive fouls called against West Valley, West Valley never gave up their lead.

GOALS:  Scholar - 4, S Hastie/MacLeane - 1 each.

ASSISTS:  Alvarez/Kay/Scholar/unassigned - 1, with one goal by Scholar unassisted after a steal with 1:20 left in the game and one goal by S Hastie on a successful penalty shot 1/2 way through the 4th qtr.

STEALS:  Scholar - 4, S Hastie/Harriman/Goalie Watkins - 2, Alvarez/MacLeane/Goalie Tate - 1

FIELD BLOCKS:  Harriman - 2 and Quirarte - 1

EJECTIONS/PENALTIES DRAWN: Hoppe/MacLeane/Harriman - 2, S Hastie/Scholar - 1 and 2 went unassigned.  The Wolverines converted 2 of their 9 power plays.

GOALIE STATS:  Watkins covered the cage for 3 qtrs of play.  Tate started out the 4th qtr and McClellean finished out the last 2 minutes of game play.  Watkins blocked 2 of 17, Tate 2 of 9 and McClellean 0 for 2, resulting in 18 goals, 4 blocks and 6 being outside of the cage area.
