Sierra softball moves to 16-6 with win over Beavers

Following Tuesday's 10-2 home win over American River, the Sierra College softball team ran its overall record to 16-6 on the season.

The Wolverines are currently in third place in the Big 8 Conference (4-2), one game behind Diablo Valley (5-1) and two back of Delta (5-1).

Sierra pounded out 15 hits against the Beavers and Hannah Slaight went the distance for her second win of the season, throwing six innings and allowing two runs on six hits. 

Offensively, Emily Smith and Toni Whipkey led Sierra. Smith went 3 for 4 with a home run and Whipkey added two hits, including a home run, and three RBI.  McKenna Anderson (2 for 4), and Lexi DeLozier (3 for 4) also had multiple hits for the Wolverines.

On the season, Amaryssa Medina is second in the conference in earned run average (1.77), third in wins (nine) and second in strikeouts (70). Holly Brennan is fifth in the Big 8 with five wins and fourth in ERA (2.25).

Offensively, DeLozier in second in the Big 8 with a .453 batting average and has 14 runs batted in. Anderson (.375 average, and a team-leading 14 stolen bases) is tied with the Medina (.375 average) for the team lead with 16 RBI. Whipkey has 15 RBI.
