With five games remaining in the regular season, the race for the Big 8 Conference softball title is shaping up to have an epic finish.

Sierra (28-7, 16-3) and Delta College (22-12, 16-3) currently sit atop the standings and will face off twice in the final week of the regular season. The Wolverines will host the Mustangs for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21 (12pm).

Sierra is currently ranked third in California and second in Northern California. Delta is 6th in the NorCal rankings.

The Wolverines kept pace with Delta thanks to another masterpiece from ace Amaryssa Medina, who shut out Santa Rosa on Tuesday, April 10. Medina pitched a complete-game, one hitter and struck out seven to pick up her 18th win of the season (6th in the state). She has 132 strikeouts (7th) in 136.1 innings and an earned run average of 1.54 (9th).

Medina, Emily Smith, Hannah Slaight, Celina Vallejos and Toni Whipkey all had runs batted in for Sierra.

The Wolverines travel to Sacramento City on Saturday, April 14 for a doubleheader (12 pm).
