Coach Brownell begins her 19th season as the Wolverines Head Coach after serving two years as an assistant. In 2009, she helped guide the team to a NorCal Championship and a state runner-up finish with 44 wins, the most in Sierra College softball history. The 2010 Wolverines won the Big 8 Conference Championship and reached the NorCal regional finals. In 2014 Brownell captured her first state championship.

Brownell was named the Big 8, NorCal Coach of the Year, and State Coach of the Year in 2010. Also, in 2010 she was named the Commission on Athletic Coach of the Year for all sports. Brownell has served two terms as the California Community College Fastpitch Association’s President.

In 18 seasons as Sierra College’s Head Softball Coach, Brownell’s record is 671-194-1, with six trips to the elite eight state championships, and 18 trips to the State Playoffs. Under Coach Brownell’s guidance the softball program has not missed a postseason. She has produced 26 All-Americans, and 99 players have earned scholarships.

Her experience includes 10 years at the high-school level where she led Del Campo High School to the playoffs nine times. Four of her teams were CAL Champions, and she was Coach of the Year in 1993. Her overall record at the varsity level was 139-26.

Brownell competed at CSU Sacramento for four years as a catcher and outfielder. She also played ASA summer ball for the NorCal Tremors. She received her BA degree from CSUS in childhood development with a minor in Physical Education. She has a Master’s in Education and Curriculum.
