Big 8 Golden Valley Crossover Challenge
The Wolverines went 1-1 on Thursday at the Big 8/ Golden Valley Crossover Challenge for their final preseason matches before Big 8 conference play begins March 15th.

The first match versus Lassen College was a 5-0 sweep. The 1's, 4's, and 5's pairs took care of business with 2-0 wins in their ladder positions. Fowler and Binda secured the team win with their dominating 21-12, 21-7 win at the turn taking the pressure of the 1's and 3's pairs.  Sierra is 3-0 all time versus Lassen.

The second match of the day was a battle between former Big 8 rivals. Sierra and Feather River have 5 Big 8 Championships between them with 3 going to Sierra. Feather is in the newly formed Golden Valley beach conference but ss usual, the match did not disappoint. The Wolverines fell 2-3 with several duals going extra points.  The 2's team of Shilling and Guerrero gave Sierra 1-1 tie on the turn.  The 1's pair of Adebodun/Skinner got the second win to tie it up 2-2 with 21-10. 24-22 win against the Eagles pair of Bolich and Kraft.  The deciding dual came down to Deter and Stolz and a nail bitter of a second set.  Hoping to send the dual into a 3rd set Sierra battled but ended falling 21-23.

Sierra returns to action next Friday in their Big 8 opener against American River College and College of Marin at Delta College.  They will also travel to San Jose State on March 17th to play two Division 1 exhibition matches versus St. Mary's College and San Jose State University.
