Wolverines Dominate First Meet of the Season
The Sierra College Women’s Swim and Dive team ventured to Santa Rosa Junior College on February 3rd to compete in their 1st meet of the season, The NorCal Relays. The Wolverines faced opponents from Santa Rosa Junior College, Allan Hancock College, American River College, Las Positas College, and San Joaquin Delta College during the 6-team event.
In a meet that featured some of the usual relays, and some not-so-usual relays, the Wolverines bested the field outscoring second-place American River College, 124-98 pts, to capture the Invitational Title.
Out of 9 events, the Wolverines had six first place finishes, and finished in the Top 3 in the remaining events. Notable first place finishes included the 200 Medley Relay with a team of Leah Moriones, Morgan Forkum, Maile Adao, & Ally Boudreaux who posted a winning time of 1:56.64 – finishing 16 seconds ahead of the second-place team.
While some first-place finishes were by a larger margin, a few close finishes over their opponents secured the win. The Wolverines’ 400 Freestyle Relay, consisting of Noe Gardner, Hailey Hensley, Hannah Cockcroft, and Ally Boudreaux, was able to edge out the competition in a close race, posting a first-place time of 3:52.25.
For it being the first meet of the season, the Wolverines showcased some impressive relay splits and times.
The Wolverines will travel south to Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California, February 29, to compete in a dual meet with the Mounties Thursday night and the Mt. SAC Invitational Meet Friday & Saturday, March 1 & 2.
