After falling in three sets to Delta earlier this month, the Sierra College volleyball team has won 12 of their last 13 sets including a four-set win over Folsom Lake on Wednesday.

Roseville alumna Taylor Stolz led the way on Wednesday with 25 kills, a season high. Another Wolverine playing well on the attacking front is Ponderosa alumna Paige Skinner who has 34 kills in the last four matches. Skinner had 11 digs in Wednesday's match while Sofia Guerrero totaled 16.

"The biggest strength of this group this year is their fight," Wolverines coach Alanna Whitnack said. "They are hungry to learn and really seem to care about one another as people. They compete hard in practice and push each other to get better. They impress me with the support they give one another from position to position. Regardless of role, I catch them being stoked for their teammates when they succeed."

The Wolverines are currently second in the Big 8 Conference at 10-1 behind Delta and are fifth in the CCCWVCA rankings. Sierra has five matches remaining in the regular season and will face American River at William Jessup on Friday.

"We are just working on being more disciplined on our side of the net, increasing the efficiency of our side out and transition games, and closing sets aggressively," Whitnack said. "This is a really passionate group of young people that love to play. It is a gift to go to work with them and our staff every day!"
