Men’s Swim and Dive Bring Home Second State Title in Program HistoryMay 04, 2019On May 4, 2019, the Sierra College Men’s Swimming and Diving team edged their way to the 2019 CCCAA State Championship! By doing so, the Wolverine squad also made history, becoming the first Sierra athletic team to win more than one state championship in the same sport (Men’s Swim and Dive also won the title in 2016).

2019 Swim and Dive State Championship PreviewMay 01, 2019The California Community College Athletic Association 2019 State Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will again feature a formidable defending state women's champ in Orange Coast College while the men's title may be between Big 8 Conference foes Sierra and Diablo Valley. For the second straight year, De Anza College will be the host of the 3-day event, Thursday-Saturday, May 2-4.

Beach Volleyball's Top Pair Takes Home 2019 Big 8 Pairs ChampionshipApril 28, 2019For the second year in a row, Sierra College Beach has the top pair in the conference. Meghan Merlino and Haley Biles cruised through bracket play and met their conference foe in Howard and Hampton from Feather River College in the winner take all final. In a thrilling 3-set match, Merlino and Biles secured the victory, and with it the 2019 Big 8 Conference Pairs Championship.

Sierra Softball (NorCal #5) Hosts Fresno City (NorCal #12) in Round One of 2019 PlayoffsApril 27, 2019Sierra College Softball picks up the #5 NorCal Seed in the 2019 CCCAA Softball Playoffs, and hosts Fresno City (NorCal #12) on Friday at 4:00pm, and Saturday at 12:00pm and 2:00pm (if necessary) in a best of three series.

2018 Big 8 Track and Field RecapApril 25, 2019Avery Lambrite raced to a 2nd place finish in the 3000 meter Steeple Chase with a time of 12:47.55 and then later that night ran the 5000 meter race in 21:01.57. Alyse Sibley placed first in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:04.61. She ran a brilliant and carefully planned race to become the Big 8 Conference Champion for the 1500 meters.

Women’s Tennis Crowned 2019 Big 8 - North Conference ChampionsMarch 22, 2019The undefeated Sierra College Women's Tennis team last Friday captured the 2019 Big 8 Conference North Division Championship with their 5-1 (with 3 games not played due to rain) win over rival American River College. The Wolverines, who are 9-0 overall, were helmed by first-year head coach Sasha Macktinger, who has led the Sierra squad to their first Big 8 title since 2013.

Wolverines Take Down State #1 DVC in Big 8 ShowdownJanuary 29, 2019Tuesday night was cause for celebration in Rocklin, as Sierra College Women’s Basketball topped Diablo Valley 68-53 in a Big 8 Conference thriller. Diablo Valley, the only remaining undefeated women’s basketball team in the state and the number one ranked team in the most recent CCCSIA state poll, entered the evening 21-0 before falling to the Wolverines.

Sierra Leads Big 8; Remains Undefeated After First Half of Conference PlayOctober 09, 2018Sierra College Women's Soccer remains undefeated and continues their 2018 win streak (now 13 straight) with Tuesday evening's 5-1 victory over Delta in Rocklin. A fierce Delta squad held Sierra scoreless for the first 35 minutes of play, before Christina Kanellou found the back of the net off a setup from Grace Vargas.

Women’s Water Polo Dominant Against Big 8 OpponentsSeptember 26, 2018Sierra College Women's Water Polo improved to 6-1 overall, 2-0 Big 8 after their two most recent wins over American River College and Sacramento City College. Sierra has scored 85 times this season, and average 12.14 goals per game. They have outscored their Big 8 opponents 38-11.

Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated with 2-1 Defeat of Santa RosaSeptember 25, 2018Sierra College Women's Soccer continues the longest win streak in the state with Tuesdays 2-1 defeat of Santa Rosa Junior College in a Big 8 conference match. Tied 1-1 at the half, it was a close battle, but Sierra scored in the 72nd minute which would end up being the game winner against the Bear Cubs.

Wolverines Improve to 7-0, Ranked 3rd in State, 1st in NorCalSeptember 14, 2018Sierra College Women's Soccer entered Big 8 Conference play with a 5-0 record, and have added two conference wins to their already impressive season and now sit at 7-0 overall, 2-0 in the Big 8. With a 2-1 win over Cosumnes River, and a 4-1 win over Diablo Valley. Sierra is now the only NorCal team without a loss or a tie this season, and one of only four programs in the state with no losses or ties.

Sierra Volleyball Opens Big 8 With a Win, 8-2 OverallSeptember 14, 2018Sierra College Women's Volleyball opened conference play Friday, Sep. 14 against Diablo Valley. The Wolverines recorded a 3-0 straight set win over the visiting Vikings to improve to 8-2 overall, 1-0 in the Big 8. Sierra entered conference play riding a three-match win streak, recording 3-0 victories over De Anza, San Mateo and Foothill before facing DVC.

Sierra Picks Up Two More Wins, Now 4-0 After First Week of PlayAugust 31, 2018Sierra College Volleyball picks up two more wins Friday afternoon as they improve to 4-0 on the season. With the August 31 defeats of Feather River and Butte, the Wolverines currently lead the state in kills (179), assists (164) and points (247.5).

Wolverines Open Season with Back-to-Back WinsAugust 29, 2018Sierra College Women’s Volleyball opened the 2018 season with a pair of wins over Shasta College and College of Marin Wednesday afternoon in Rocklin. Between the two matches, Sierra averaged 12.83 kills per set, 10.67 digs per set and are hitting .321 as a team.
