Sierra College Volleyball locked up its share of the Big 8 Tile with a 4-1 win over Sac City College and a 4-1 win over Delta College on Friday. In a must win situation to hold on to the top spot, the Wolverines took down Sac City in the 1's and 3's in dominant fashion securing the match as they had automatic forfeits already at the 4's and 5's.

The Delta matches opened with a dominant win for the 5's, Binda and Fowler.  Their win made it 1-1 at the turn. One of the most improved pairs on the team, Fowler's tough serving and Binda's crafty attacking gave Sierra the dual win versus Delta's Sands and Sula, 21-4, 21-9.
Their fighting spirit set the tone for the 2's pair of Rodriguez and Stolz  who took care of business giving the Wolverines the 2-1 dual lead. Rodriguez's tenacious defense and Stolz's high flying attack gave them their second win this season agains Delta's 2's.

The match win came in a hard fought rematch at the 3's with Boccia and Deter avenging a tough loss the first time they played Delta back in March.  The first game was a back and fourth affair until some unforced errors by the Wolverines cost them the set, 17-21.  Second set action started slow but the Wolverines rallied from a 14-7 deficit to win the second set 21-19. The Wolverines were not to be denied from that point on and exploded offensively tot take the 3rd and deciding set 15-8.

Sierra put an exclamation point on the win at the 1's pair as a fiercely contested win was had by Adebodun and Skinner.  The win gave Sierra a Big 8 Conference best in their fourth championship since the conference began in 2018.  Post season begins at College of Marin on April 26th with the Big 8 Pairs Championships.  All five pairs have qualified to compete and the top 12 of the 20 team field will advance to regionals.
