Bio

"Coach Yae" McKenzie enters his 6th season in coaching and 2nd at Sierra in 2025 to assist coaching the Wide Receivers. In 2024 he was a critical piece to the Wolverines WR corps, helping lead a WR unit that led all of Northern CA in passing yards.

Previously, he coached at De Anza High School in Richmond, CA, leading both the Wide Receivers and Defensive backs. During his time there he mentored star Defensive Back Devon King, who would go on to sign at UC Davis and make the All-Big Sky Conference 1st team.

Coach McKenzie also coached sprints and jumps for the track and field team at De Anza High and for the East Bay Elite Track Club, helping long jumpers Thomas Berg win a silver medal at the Junior Olympics and Ben Ahenguah sign at Long Beach State.

A former receiver himself, Coach McKenzie played at Diablo Valley College for coach Mike Darr before moving on to Sacramento State. At Sac State, he switched sports to rugby, and was a part of the 2023 National Championship team.
