The Sierra College Women’s Soccer team under Jason Gantt has made the playoffs in each of his seven seasons. Highlighted by a trip to the Final Four in 2012 and National ranking of #4, the 2013 team won the Big 8 championship. Gantt serves as the Women’s Soccer coaches’ representative for the BIG 8. Former players Elizabeth Scherrer (Stanislaus State), Kyleah Rozario (San Francisco State), Kristina Stammer (Point Park, William Jessup), Tiffani Rice (BYU Hawaii), Caroline Stromick (Univ. Hawaii Hilo), Molly McConnell (Sacramento State), Katie Pulliam (CSU Fullerton), Jannel Grace (UTPB), Jasmin Lopez (UTPB), Rebekah Anderson (CSU East Bay), Rachel Sloss (CSU East Bay) Milana Wolsleben (Univ Hawaii Hilo), Carissa Schlesinger (Minot), Celene Johnson (Minot), Jessica Parker (Minot), Mikayla English (William Jessup), Sophie Satterley (Univ Hawaii Hilo) have all gone on to play at the next level. The 2009, 2010, and 2014 teams received The Team Academic Award by NSCAA by having a team GPA of above a 3.0. Under Gantt’s helm Sierra College Soccer has had two All American’s, Brittany Bravo and Miani Mahannah.

Before coming to Sierra, Jason held the position as Top Assistant Coach of the Men’s Soccer team at Sacramento State University 2003-2008. A native of Roseville, CA and graduate of Oakmont high school winning a Div 1 Sac Joaquin Section Title in 1995 and Was a two time CAL All-League Selection as well as a 1997 Sac Bee All- Metro Soccer Selection. Gantt was a 4 sport athlete at Oakmont and was named Oakmont’s Male athlete of the year in 1998.

As a student athlete at Sacramento State in soccer, Gantt earned all-conference honors in 2000 and 2001 as one of the top defenders in the MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) and was named Academic All-Conference in 1999. In four years with the program (1998-2001), Gantt appeared in 58 contests, including 47 starts. As a captain in his senior year 2001, the Hornet’s won a MPSF league title a first for the program. A recipient of the Vincent Beale (2001) award and the Donald Gerth (1999) awards as a student athlete for the Hornets. In 2016, Jason was inducted into the Sacramento State Men’s Soccer Hall of Fame. Gantt was a member of the Pro Select League (3rd Division) and played two years for the California Gold (2002, 2004) in the Western Conference. In 2004, he was a member of Team Sacramento which won the PASL Indoor National Championship.

A holder of a USSF A license, NSCAA Premier Diploma, NSCAA Regional Goalkeeping license in coaching, Gantt has coached youth teams to a National Championship in 2014, a State Cup championship, US Club Regional Championship and multiple Surf Cup Championships. Two former players from Sacramento State Ernesto Carranza and Fernando Cabadas were recently drafted in the Major League Soccer draft by New England Revolution and Chivas USA. Former youth player Ryan Hollingshead is currently playing for FC Dallas after a successful career at UCLA. In the USL two former player Luis Martinez – OKC Energy and Jake Feener - Tulsa Roughnecks are under contract.

In 2008 and 2009, Gantt served as a staff coach for the US Youth Soccer Regional Olympic Development Program in the Far West Region.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in business finance and risk management insurance, Gantt completed his master’s degree in kinesiology (Sports Performance) at Sacramento State in 2007.
