Wolverines Return to the State Championship
With their second-place finish at the Northern California Regional Championship, the Wolverines returned to the CCCAA State Championship as the number two seed from the North to face the number three seed from the South, the Riverside City College Tigers. This State Championship appearance marks the Wolverines' 22nd State Championship appearance making them the 2nd most State appearances out of all the Women's Water Polo programs in the CCCAA, only one behind Riverside City College with 23 appearances.
With both teams being no stranger to the State Championship environment and having a close battle at the beginning of October, the game opened with a 2-2 score after the first quarter with the Wolverines taking the upper hand going into the half, leading 4-3. The Wolverines would end up losing 7-10 in the 4th quarter, ending their State Championship Title run.
Ally Boudreaux and Makenna Perez would post one goal each, with assists coming from Makenna Perez and Bailey Hollick, respectively. Bailey Hollick would grab two goals, one assisted by Hailey Hensley and one coming from a 5-meter penalty shot. The Wolverines would finish their season with a 27-7 record, being 10-0 versus Conference opponents and 14-1 versus opponents in the Northern California Region. With a Conference Championship Title and a second-place finish in Northern California, the Wolverines tallied 470 goals and 408 assists through their 34-game season. Bailey Hollick rounded out the season ranked third in the State for goals scored with 130 goals, surpassing her previous school record of 125 goals. Hailey Hensley also found herself ranked third in the State for assists with 76 assists. Makenna Perez ranked third in the State for Exclusions Drawn with 58 exclusions drawn.
