It was a slower than average week for Wolverine teams as Women's Cross Country, Football and Men's Water Polo had the week off. Sierra was still in action however, as Women's Golf, Women's Soccer, Women's Water Polo, Wrestling and Volleyball all picked up at least a win a pice in competition last week.
Women's Golf
Sierra Women's Golf played twice this week, first at the Jan High Invitational in Sacramento, followed by a neutral site for Big 8 #5, played at Bing Maloney Golf Course in Sacramento. At the Big 8 course, Sierra placed third with 341 (2nd was 339 and 1st was 326). Three Sierra golfers broke the top 10 individually, with Hailey Salomone taking 3rd with 79.60, Melanie Anderson in 4th with 80.20 and Jordan Rooker in 7th with 83.
Sierra Women's Golf heads to Elkhorn Golf Course in Stockton for another neutral Big 8 showdown on Tuesday, October 15 at noon.
Women's Soccer
Sierra Women's Soccer added a pair of wins this week, traveling to Cosumnes River for a 1-0 win over the Hawks before hosting Folsom Lake on Friday, October 11.
The Wolverines vs Falcons matchup was a nailbiter as these two rivalry teams battled back and forth. It was all tied up 1-1 at the half, then both teams scored within five minutes of each other in the second before Sierra was able to shut things down with their third goal, taking the 3-2 win and improving to 6-1 in Big 8 play.
Sierra will host Santa Rosa on Tuesday, October 15 with a 4:00pm kickoff time.

Women's Water Polo
Women's Water Polo took on Sacramento City on October 9, heading to Sacramento to take on the Panthers in a Big 8 battle. Sierra took the decisive 16-1 victory, with 9 different Wolverine swimmers scoring goals, while Emily Gammelgard racked up 15 saves for Sierra.
Sierra Women's Water Polo – as well as Men's Water Polo – host Diablo Valley this Wednesday, October 16. The men face off at 3:30pm, followed by the women at 5:00pm.

Wrestling
Sierra College Wrestling hosted their first dual of 2019 last week, hosting Sacramento State and San Joaquin Delta on October 9. Sierra took the victory in both duals, before heading to the Modesto Invitational on October 12, finishing 9th.

Volleyball
This week, Sierra traveled to Sacramento City College for a matchup against the panthers on Wednesday, October 9. The Wolverines added a 5th Big 8 win to their record with the 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-15) victory over Sacramento City, improving to 5-0 in league play, holding on to first place in the Big 8.
A match was scheduled for Friday between Sierra and Santa Rosa, but due to scheduled power outages in Santa Rosa, the match has been rescheduled for Monday, October 21 at 6:30pm in Santa Rosa.
Next up for Sierra is a big one, as the Wolverines host Big 8 rival and defending CCCAA State Champion American River College on Wednesday, October 16 at 6:30pm in Rocklin.
