It was a great day for the Sierra College defense on Saturday as the Wolverines traveled to Redding and dominated Shasta 45-0 for their first shutout of the season.

Sierra held the Knights to only 158 yards of offense and forced two turnovers, one being an interception by Christien Smith and the other being a forced fumble by Josiah Burke that was returned 75 yards for a touchdown by Jalen Bryant

"When I had my 75 yard scoop and score, during the play I noticed that the tackle was trying to position to block me and I saw a fly sweep go to the opposite side, so I automatically knew that something was going to come back to my side," Bryant said. "It's exciting to score that touchdown, but I'm not going to say that it was all me, you know shoutout to our middle linebacker Skyler getting that huge hit to disrupt the play, shout out Jamal for a key block in the middle of me scooping the ball, and of course shout out to to my teammates Evan and Kaden for running down with me to the end zone to make sure we scored!"

On offense, the Wolverines were once again led by sophomore quarterback Cruz Herrera with three total touchdowns including a 1-yard run, and passing touchdowns to Dontae Robinson and Semaj Clark. Robinson had five receptions for 67 yards leading all receivers.

Elijah Reed also found the end zone for Sierra with a 2-yard run early in the third quarter.

The Wolverines are now 5-2 on the season and are ranked 11th in the JCAB and CCCSIA rankings. Sierra will return home to face the 5-2 Butte Roadrunners on Saturday at 1 p.m.

"Our team already knows what mindset it takes to remain undefeated going into these next two weeks against Butte and ARC," Bryant said. "We just have to have the mindset to dominate."
