Sierra Softball (NorCal #5) Hosts Fresno City (NorCal #12) in Round One of 2019 Playoffs

Sierra College Softball picks up the #5 NorCal Seed in the 2019 CCCAA Softball Playoffs, and hosts Fresno City (NorCal #12) on Friday at 4:00pm, and Saturday at 12:00pm and 2:00pm (if necessary) in a best of three series.

Sierra enters postseason competition with a 31-9 overall record, while finishing 15-6 in the Big 8 Conference. The Wolverines have scored 262 runs in 2019, with a team batting average of .344, an on base percentage of .403 and slugging percentage of .492, with 382 hits, a statewide best of 94 doubles, 5 triples and 20 home runs. 

Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Bailynn Meek leads the Wolverine squad in hits (57), doubles (18), RBI (47) and batting average (422). Sophomore outfielder Emily Smith leads the team in on base percentage, reaching safely about half the time, with an OBP of .490. Sophomore second baseman Lexi DeLozier leads the Wolverines in stolen bases, with 22 on the year, along with leading the team in the runs department, crossing home 39 time in 2019 so far.

From the circle, Sierra's pitching staff has recorded an impressive 2.09 team ERA, led by sophomore Holly Brennan, who has racked up a 1.46 ERA in 38.1 innings of work. Emily Thompson is also sub 2 in earned run average, with a 1.69 ERA in 20.2 innings pitched. Sophomore Bella Bottini (ERA of 2.12 in 62.2 innings), freshman Amanda Hoffman (ERA of 2.22 in 85 innings) and sophomore Bailynn Meek (ERA of 2.48 in 48 innings) round out the 2019 Wolverine pitching staff.
