Women’s Basketball Takes Down Sequoias 81-75; Advances to NorCal Finals at Butte this Saturday

Sierra College Women's Basketball advance to the 2020 NorCal finals after last Friday's 81-75 OT win over Sequoias. By halftime, Sierra held a 4 point 31-27 lead, but the Giants came back in the second to tie it 60-60 after regulation and forcing overtime. Sierra was able to regroup and find a way to victory, advancing to the 2020 NorCal finals with an 81-75 overtime win. Sierra now travels to Butte this Saturday (March 7) for round three action, winner advances to the 2020 CCCAA State Championship in Lemoore, CA.


Butte and Sierra faced each other early in the season, with Butte winning that matchup by just a point, with an 86-85 final. Sierra (#6) and Butte (#3) have relatively similar overall records of 23-6 for Butte, and 21-7 for Sierra.

Sierra has averaged 78.1 points per game, while Butte averaged 78.0 this season, good for 7th and 8th in the state respectivly. Kailee McCarrick and Jenna Duley are still leading the Sierra squad in average points per game, with 22.7 and 14.7 respectively. On the Butte side, Chloe Mayer and Elyana Croninger lead the Roadrunners in points per game with 17.8 and 13.8 respectively.
