The Sierra and Santa Rosa cross country women raced to personal best performances at the Big 8 Championships on November 1st. The exciting race had both teams running stride for stride over the fast Legion Park 5k course in Modesto. Santa Rosa scored 50 points to Sierra's 53 points (low score wins). Sierra actually had a faster team time but the scoring is based on finishing place of the top 5 runners for each team. Modesto was third with 76 points, Delta 4th with 81 points and American River 5th with 93 points. The Sierra women are looking forward to a re-match with Santa Rosa at the Nor Cal Championships on November 8th. Both teams are ranked tied for 2nd in Nor Cal rankings behind Hartnell going into the Championships.
