Wolverine Baseball Rides 13 Game Win Streak Into 2020 Big 8 Play

Sierra College Baseball has been on a roll this year, racking up a 13-2 record in non-conference play and scoring 170 runs (2nd in CA) on 194 hits (2nd in CA)  and 140 RBI's (2nd in CA). Sierra's offense has been complemented with stellar work on the mound, with a team ERA of 1.97, the second lowest of any team in the CCCAA. Defensively, Sierra has allowed just 39 runs, with a team fielding percentage of .961.

As the team heads into their first week of conference play, the Wolverines look to continue their 2020 success, but will face a litany of top notch baseball clubs as they make their way through what many would say is among the toughest baseball conference in the CCCAA, the Big 8.

Since 2008 when Sierra won the CCCAA state title, a Big 8 team has been represented in the state tournament every year except 2010, including 3 state champions from the conference in the last 4 years. Despite the rigor of the Big 8, Sierra has historically done well, including a combined Big 8 record over their last two seasons of 35-13.

Sierra is now gearing up to take on Santa Rosa in their first Big 8 series of the decade, with the first game being away at Santa Rosa, followed by the Wolverines' 2020 Big 8 home opener on Thursday, February 27 in Rocklin at 2:00pm.

So come on out and show your support for this exciting 2020 squad as they take on the Bear Cubs this Thursday. Go Wolverines!
